A New Take On Stock

Everyone has at least one of them tucked away at the back of the cupboard gathering dust. The ashes casket shaped like a football, the mock art deco flower vase that was just a little too retro to sit comfortably in the local cemetery, or the dog-eared lidless box of reserved seat markers where the sun has faded onetime rich reds into a mass of mottled pink. All bought 'for stock', but fated never to find favour with a client.

"It is all very well people talking about offering greater funeral choice, but what tends to be forgotten is that this is a profession with very tight timescales - sometimes as short as five to seven working days. To avoid disappointment you either need to know that the item your family is interested in is either on the shelf - or be sure that it can be sent to you in time for the day of the funeral", says Sue Tutill, of Tutill Remembrance Items Ltd.

Her firm has carved out a niche here, by building a reputation for being able to deliver most of its range of books of condolence, keepsake jewellery, cremated remains caskets and urns and even black 'no parking' cones, within 24 hours of receiving an enquiry from a funeral director. Something that might not sound that difficult to arrange, until you appreciate that not everyone may be emotionally able to finalise an arrangement at the first meeting with their funeral director. More to the point, every additional wish that can be fulfilled - however closer it comes to the day of the funeral - makes for a more satisfied client, as well as enhancing the standard of service offered.

Sue Tutill making the point that, "What we are saying to funeral homes now, is why not use Tutill Remembrance as your 'virtual stock room'.  This way you can both have your cake and eat it. Offering clients more choice, without having to take the financial risk of investing in an item that the next of kin might not want. Or worse, do want - but in a different colour or design".
