PRESS INFORMATION FROM BINZ UK New Look Binz Complements Contemporary Funeral Trends Choice is the engine changing the face of funerals today. Whether as a straight down the line decision in favour of a civil ceremony over a religious service, or expressed in a growing demand from next of kin for more contemporary themes and elements to be brought within the traditional funeral structure. Recognition of these trends early on, is what has propelled Binz UK to its present position in the vanguard of funeral fleet suppliers, when the arrival of its first glass roofed five door hearses effectively rewrote the rules of coachbuilding for the new millennium. Commenting on the debut of the next generation Binz vehicle family, Kevin Smith, the company's sales director says, "This is yet another step towards meeting the needs of funeral directors' clients for vehicles whose design and branding - in the form of both the Binz badgeing and the Mercedes-Benz engineering pedigree - belong recognisably in today's world, not in that of their grandfathers". Not that style has been sacrificed for substance. The five door hearse alone has innovations enough to satisfy the most picky fleet manager. All electronic modules for the recalibrated suspension and associated active ride and handling systems, the tailgate, plus the rise and fall deck are now grouped within easy reach for diagnosis and maintenance behind the triple row of bearer seats. There is a full-sized spare wheel well beneath the deck, and in a thoughtful touch, Binz have even provided a strap to raise the spare up and out using the deck's own lifting system. The limousine gains a glass roof - not that you would know it standing on the outside looking in. Smith explaining, "As car design has become lower and sleeker, safety requirements and styling demands have meant that the glass area on an extended chassis limousine has become smaller. Which is fine for a conventional limousine, where the interior is meant to look private, protective and enticing. But the last thing you would wish for on a funeral car, where the object is if not to dispel the feeling of loss, at the very least not to add to it". With a 97 per cent light exclusion tint, these glass panels provide the necessary lightness without any untoward 'greenhouse effect', with the unique to Binz middle-Eastern specification climate control system always there by way of back up. The glass is incidentally a structural component of the car too. Yet another example of how Binz UK's privileged access to Mercedes-Benz design data has allowed it to introduce such an advanced feature, without compromising the engineering integrity of the base E-Class body structure.
