PRESS INFORMATION FROM BINZ (UK) LTD. Date: 07.06.06 embargo: immediate Sense of Humour BBC Top Gear's website recently carried a piece on Binz winning the German iF Design award for its extended-chassis Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Funeral directors will have probably heard all the jokes that make the rounds about the profession, but at the risk of repeating another hoary old chestnut, here's a snippet from the site to be going on with: Question: What has only five seats but can carry six people? Answer: the Binz Hearse. In fact, Top Gear got it wrong, because as those of you in the know have already guessed, the Binz in common with many other hearses has a double deck. So should that be seven people, then? Read the full piece by going to http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/652/ Binz hearses are hand built with full Mercedes engineering approval on extended chassis E-class Mercedes chassis in Germany. The vehicles come with full European Type Approval and 5 Star NCAP crash testing. Unlike some other conversions the co-operation with Mercedes gives the Binz engineers full access to engine and chassis management data to ensure that every Binz performs as Mercedes engineers originally specified the original vehicle.
