PRESS INFORMATION FROM BINZ (UK) LTD. Date: 03.04.06 embargo: immediate Dublin Delivery Need a new hearse in a hurry, then there is only one place to go - Binz. Cashel-based funeral director James Devitt needed to update his fleet with a new hearse and he needed it sooner rather than later. Thanks to a policy of maintaining a pool of vehicles for immediate delivery, Binz rose to the occasion and after initial negotiation, James Devitt opted for one of the new two-seat hearses from Binz. It was not long before Binz had the hearse delivered by fast ferry to Dublin and James Devitt was handed the keys to the first of a new breed of Binz hearses. Rather than the protracted build to order encountered with some conversions where the client has to purchase his base car from the local Mercedes dealer, every Binz hearse, whilst still craftsman built, starts life as a new chassis-body assembly direct from Mercedes-Benz. Apart from anything else, this pares waiting times down to the bare essentials. In this case the customer hardly had time to put the phone down and Binz delivered the goods. Needless to say the rest of the vehicle's working life will be at a more sedate pace. Binz has rapidly developed a reputation for its extended E-Class based limousines and hearses, and the decision to develop a two-seat hearse is aimed at meeting demand from those sectors of the funeral profession where families often choose to provide their own bearers. However, the new model is just as well equipped as its bigger brothers. Each is built around the E280, and supplied to Elegance specification complete with air conditioning, Palma grey leather trim and tyre pressure monitoring. The Binz 'trademark' of optically clear curved glass over the casket deck is standard, as is of course the peace of mind that comes from full Mercedes-Benz engineering approval, and warranty support through any franchised Mercedes-Benz dealership. "By always having several vehicles in stock, we can give our customers additional flexibility in planning their fleet renewals programmes. Leaving that aside, we would also like to think that our manufacturing systems can deliver without the long lead times that have come to be accepted as normal for this kind of vehicle", says Binz UK marketing director Kevin Smith.
