PRESS INFORMATION FROM BINZ UK Binz To Jointly Market Fairlane Brand Reading-based Binz UK has entered into a working agreement with specialist vehicle manufacturer Coleman Milne of Bolton, to market its Fairlane hearse and 6-door limousine range. These vehicles are built upon Ford of Australia's Falcon platform, and will be marketed alongside Binz's own extended-chassis Mercedes-Benz E-Class based line. The agreement enables Binz to offer its existing customer base a wider choice of coachwork styles and power train options, whilst retaining the manoeuvrability that comes with rear-wheel drive. "For us, taking the Fairlane on board is actually not as radical a step as might appear. Our workshops already have many years of experience in servicing both existing customers' cars, as well as preparing vehicles that have come in as part-exchanges against sales of new Binz Mercedes-Benz fleets. You could even say that for the southern part of the country, we have effectively been Coleman Milne's regional service centre in everything but name for some time", explains Binz UK's sales director Kevin Smith. "Brand loyalty is also an issue. People who have grown their businesses with a pre-owned Fairlane fleet supplied through Binz UK, may be perfectly happy with both the marque and the high levels of service we give to all our customers. So rather than break up that relationship, it becomes a win-win situation if we can then supply them with a new Coleman Milne direct. "Now, with this working agreement in place, a new Coleman Milne can be ordered, financed, and delivered to their door, with the security of knowing that warranty support is in the hands of a company that already has their trust, and the specialist in-house skills to maintain and repair it." The Fairlane line up comprises two models of hearse - a streamlined Cardinal and high-roof Cardinal Classic - plus a 6 door Dorchester limousine, all of which feature a 3984 cc straight-six petrol engine with double overhead cams, variable valve timing, and a maximum output of 195 Kw, all fed through a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Coachwork construction takes place at Coleman Milne's Westhoughton bodybuilding plant, with completed vehicles being certified under Low Volume Type Approval as part of series production, rather than as individual 'one offs' through the more common Single Vehicle Approval scheme.
