Through a glass darkly no more.

A. Yeatman and Sons funeral service of West Norwood, Greater London, is finding that the additional glass area of its new Binz hearse has struck an unexpected chord with our national custom of placing the casket and floral tributes on prominent display within the funeral vehicle. Serving an urban catchment area that includes a large number of high-rise building developments, A. Yeatman and Son finds that the view afforded through the clear glass roof over the casket deck is increasingly being appreciated by flat-dwelling mourners anxiously awaiting their first sight of the cortege.

While the idea of asking donations in lieu of flowers is gaining ground, there are still communities where the tradition of saying goodbye with wreaths or intricate floral arrangements remains firmly entrenched.

All reasons enough to persuade A. Yeatman and Sons senior partner Alan Smith, incidentally also president of the national Society of Allied and Independent Funeral directors (SAIF), into choosing a Binz Mercedes-Benz E270 Cdi-based hearse and matching E220 CDi-based limousine when making the latest addition to its funeral fleet.

Though there were sound technical reasons for selecting Binz UK as supplier too. These included the peace of mind that comes from a full factory warranty on all Mercedes-Benz original equipment components, plus the knowledge that the additional glass area on the hearse had been achieved without compromising underlying engineering integrity of the standard E Class. Something that Binz have proven by successfully putting both hearse and limousine through the rigours of full European Type Approval certification.
