PRESS INFORMATION FROM BINZ UK LTD. Any colour you like, as long as it is black. Coachbuilding hearses and limousines is never going to be business that would meet with the approval of a Henry Ford. Yet Binz UK's ability to deliver a matched E Class-based pair to Leeds funeral directors Joseph Geldart within three months of receiving the order, seems set to raise a few eyebrows. Part of the explanation lies in the considerable investment made by Binz in setting up what is in effect a low-volume assembly line - where traditional craft skills are retained, but now backed with jigs and automation to ensure consistancy. Yet the real secret to increasing throughut, without compromising client satisfaction, is the way that the whole operation works to an identical set of quality standards as those used within Mercedes-Benz itself. It is certainly an approach that struck a chord with Hadrian Cracknell, director and partner at Joseph Geldart, who said when receiving the keys to its E270 CDi specification hearse and E220 CDi limousine: "I am delighted to be taking possession of this fleet, it marks a major investment in the business and the decision to go with Binz was on the fact that the build quality is there and that they have full Mercedes engineering approval. That means peace of mind for me and my business".
