Binz Boosts Southern Co-op Funeral Fleet

The Southern Co-operative Funeral Service has taken delivery of three new additions to its funeral fleet with the delivery of a Binz Mercedes-based E-270 CDI hearse and a matching pair of E-class 220 CDI Binz limousines.

The trio of Binz vehicles have been bought as the first in a structured fleet replacement programme, and were chosen as the best vehicles in all aspects to fulfil the Southern Co-op's business requirements.

Funeral Services Director, Steve Pearce said, "The Mercedes-Benz quality is clearly mirrored throughout the vehicles offered by Binz. The fact that Binz as a coachbuilder, is fully recognised and authorised by Mercedes-Benz in Germany, means that we are able to make full use our of the entire Mercedes dealer facilities.

"It is reassuring to know that with Binz we are buying a fully crash tested product. It comes with a full whole vehicle European Certificate of Conformity for both the hearse and limousine, which gives unquestionable qualification of the stringent engineering standards set by Mercedes-Benz and the fulfilment of the European legal criteria (which includes the UK). We can be assured of the safe construction, occupant safety, exhaust emissions, and fuel economy for the life of the vehicle. Our balance sheet will be enhanced by reducing our operating costs (over 500 miles per tankfull) and the reflection of Mercedes-Benz high residual values in the Binz vehicles throughout our ownership."  

Lee Smith, Binz's Technical Director added, "The Binz hearses and limousines are the only fully type approved Mercedes Benz conversions on the market and as such have fully integrated internal fixtures and fittings, including fully operational electrics, heating and air conditioning."

Peter Smith , Chief Executive of Binz added, "Binz is delighted to be able to continue to serve the Southern Co-operative Society" and he thanked Steve Pearce for the Co-op's support as he handed over the keys to the first three vehicles in the restructured fleet.
