TVR Speed 6 Reliability Issues Addressed

When TVR wanted to create its own power-plant, it commissioned Melling Consultancy Design (MCD) to design an engine to meet the company's performance parameters. The end product was a six cylinder in-line DOHC unit, which is now known as the Speed 6, though there are detail differences in this production version from that as originally penned by MCD designer Al Melling. 

However, since the commissioning of the Speed 6, a number of owners have reported reliability issues with this engine. 

Now Salisbury performance engineers Autocraft SVE  and the originators of the Speed 6, Melling Consultancy Design have come to an agreement to offer a performance and reliability upgrade package for these engines. The replacement components and modifications procedures address problems that have surfaced with the TVR specification engine, particulary within the cylinder head, valve train and cam shaft oiling areas.

Autocraft SVE will only supply components designed, specified and approved by Melling Consultancy Design, and all Autocraft SVE supplied components will be identified as such to show their origins. Furthermore, complete records of engines treated with the Autocraft SVE - Melling Consultancy Design  approved package will be maintained in order to support warranty claims should they arise. Autocraft SVE itself will offer a 12,000 mile transferable warranty on the upgrade, with extendible warranties also being available. 

Unlike most modifications carried out on performance engines, which usually detract from the vehicle's originality (an important factor in maintaining the vehicle's value and later collectability), this package actually adds value thanks to the involvement and full approval of the original engine designer Melling Consultancy Design.
