PRESS INFORMATION FROM AIXAM LTD. Aixam: The Future Is Here Visitiors to the Aixam stand at the Motability Roadshow 2005 at Donington Park, July 7-9th, will be able to sample the future of motoring in the Tardis-like environment of the Aixam A.751. The diminutive Aixam A.751 offers conventional car comforts to front seat occupants, including electric windows, and has a folding rear seat that creates ample stowage space for substantial loads such as a wheelchair, or just the family shopping. The Axiam A.751 comes as standard with simple to understand and easy to operate controls, yet can be readily fitted with adaptations to meet the needs of more physically-challenged drivers. A constantly variable transmission means that the only gear selection ever required is forwards or reverse. The pedal controls are lightweight, the polycarbonate body mounted on an aluminium chassis only weights in with a kerb weight of 380kg, so it doesn't take much effort to stop. The low weight also means that the steering is light to the touch, precise and smooth. Suspension is tried and tested McPherson strut at the front and trailing arm at the rear; front disc brakes and drum rear. The Aixam A.751 runs on a reliable and well tested Kubota 479cc low emission diesel engine that gives a top speed of 50mph and returns fuel economy around 80 miles per gallon - so you don't neet to visit the pumps so often. It also meets with UTAC crash test standards; and for those minor bumps around town the polycarbonate body is much more resilient than conventional steel and aluminium body panels. The lightweight low emission, low impact Aixam is the car of the future and it is here and available now. Whilst mainstream manufacturers are seeking environmental credentials, the Aixam can already claim virtually 100 per cent recyclability. See the Aixam on Stand 4 - the Cars Its your Choice stand - at the Mobility Road Show at Donington Park and see the future for yourself. Aixam Ltd. is the UK distributor for the Aixam A.751, manufactured by Aixam Mega in a purpose-built plant at Aix-les-Bains, France.
